Titles & hooks

Add text to video with titles thatwrite themselves

Type the hook yourself, or let Shorz read your transcript and headline each segment. Either way you get real typography — any font on your machine, strokes, background boxes and entrance animations.

How to use the add text to video in three steps

The first two seconds decide whether anyone watches the rest, and the title is most of those two seconds. Shorz gives you two ways to get one: write it, or let the app read what you actually said and headline each segment for you. Both come with typography controls that web editors don't offer, because it's running on your own machine.

Choosing between manual title text and AI-generated segment headlines
1

Write it or generate it

Manual mode takes exactly the text you type. AI mode reads the transcript and writes a headline for each segment of the video — useful when a ten-minute explainer needs eight on-screen titles.

2

Style it properly

Any font on your system, full colour control, stroke width, a background box, optional fullscreen backdrop, and inline emoji support. Set it once and it applies across the video.

3

Animate and place it

Choose entrance and exit animations, control when the title appears and how long it holds, and place it anywhere in the frame — top-third hook, lower-third label, or dead centre.

Timing & placement

Find it in the app under Text panel → Title.

Why Add Text to Video in Shorz

Video preview with a title bar and subtitle text along the lower third

Titles and subtitles, one panel

Titles carry the hook; subtitles carry the words. They share a panel and a design language, so a video ends up looking like one designed thing rather than two effects stacked on each other.

Headlines from what you said

AI title mode reads the transcript and writes a headline per segment — so a long video gets chapter-style on-screen text without you pausing to think of eight of them.

Shorz speaks MCP

Shorz isn't a locked web app. Connect it to Claude, Cursor, Codex or Gemini and your assistant can drive it directly — one message instead of a panel full of clicks. You review before anything is published.
