Shorz connects to AI services (like GPT-5, Veo, ElevenLabs) through the AIML API. You sign up for an API key at aimlapi.com and pay them directly for usage — typically pennies per video. This keeps Shorz itself free and avoids locking you into a monthly subscription for the app. An optional ElevenLabs API key unlocks premium voice, dubbing, transcription, and sound effects.
Shorz runs on Windows 10/11. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, rendering is hardware-accelerated (NVENC + CUDA) and significantly faster. Without a GPU, the app uses CPU encoding — it works, it's just slower for long videos. 8 GB RAM minimum recommended; 16 GB+ for comfortable multi-asset projects.
Your video files stay on your machine. Only text (instructions, scripts, transcripts) and individual frames (for AI analysis) are sent to the AI APIs. No footage is uploaded to Shorz servers — there are no Shorz servers involved in editing.
