Emphasis

Freeze frames that landon the punchline

The oldest emphasis trick in editing, automated. Shorz finds the impactful moments, holds the frame, and picks how long each pause should last — or you name an exact timestamp and duration.

How to use the freeze frame in three steps

A freeze is a full stop. It tells the viewer that the thing just said was the point — and in short-form, where everything moves, stillness is the loudest available move. Shorz can find those moments itself, or hold any frame you name for as long as you want.

1

Turn on freeze frame effects

One switch in the Settings panel. Shorz analyses the video and creates short freeze moments at impactful points — and if it doesn't find any, it doesn't force them.

Automatic, and honest about it

Freeze frames of different lengths placed at impactful moments
2

Let it choose the length

The AI picks how long each freeze holds based on the moment. A beat for a punchline, longer for a reveal — you don't set a global duration and hope it fits everywhere.

Per-moment duration

3

Or freeze an exact frame

Need one specific hold? Give Shorz a timestamp and a duration and it freezes that exact frame, returning a new file with the original untouched.

Why Freeze Frame in Shorz

An editor preview holding a speaker on a single still frame

Stillness works because everything else moves

Freeze frames pair with the rest of the emphasis toolkit — auto-zoom punch-ins, sound effects, titles. The freeze is the pause; the zoom and the whoosh either side are what make it read as deliberate.

Emphasis toolkit

Freeze frames applied only at genuinely impactful moments

Automatic, but never fabricated

If the video has no moment worth holding, Shorz applies nothing. That's deliberate — a freeze on a filler sentence is worse than no freeze at all.

Shorz speaks MCP

Shorz isn't a locked web app. Connect it to Claude, Cursor, Codex or Gemini and your assistant can drive it directly — one message instead of a panel full of clicks. You review before anything is published.

See how MCP automation works
An AI assistant asks Shorz: Freeze the frame at 12.4 seconds for 1.5 seconds and save it as a new file.

You say

“Freeze the frame at 12.4 seconds for 1.5 seconds and save it as a new file.”

Shorz does

  • 1Read the source video
  • 2Hold the frame at the timestamp
  • 3Write a new output file
  • 4Leave the original untouched
