Video speed changer from0.1× to 4×
Ten times slower for a detail nobody would otherwise catch, four times faster for a process nobody wants to sit through. One slider, applied to the whole video.

How to use the video speed changer in three steps
Speed is an editorial decision more than a technical one. Slowing a clip says "look at this"; speeding one up says "you don't need to watch all of this." Shorz keeps the control right next to the rest of the effects, with a range wide enough for real slow motion and real timelapse rather than a token 0.5× / 2×.

Set the speed
The slider runs from 0.1× to 4× in 0.1 steps. Below 1× is slow motion, above 1× compresses time — and everything else in the project re-times around it.
0.1× to 4×, in 0.1 steps

Or speed one file up
For a single file with no project, give Shorz a speed factor — 0.5 for half speed, 2.0 for double — and it writes a new video at that speed.
One file, one factor

Keep the rest of the edit
Captions, zooms and effects re-time with the footage, so a speed change doesn't leave subtitles stranded a second behind the audio.
Everything re-times together
Find it in the app under Settings → Video Speed · MCP single-file tool.
Why Video Speed Changer in Shorz

Speed and stillness together
A speed ramp into a freeze frame is one of the strongest emphasis moves in short-form. Both live in the same settings panel, alongside auto-zoom and its sound effects.
Pairs with freeze frame

No length ceiling
Timelapsing an hour-long screen recording means reading an hour-long file. Online tools cap that; a desktop app doesn't. Shorz reads it off your disk at whatever size it is.
Any file size
Who uses it, and for what

Slow motion
Stretch the moment worth seeing twice.

Timelapse
An hour of work in fifteen seconds.

Gameplay
Slow the clutch play, speed the walk-back.

Process videos
Compress the boring middle.
Shorz speaks MCP
Shorz isn't a locked web app. Connect it to Claude, Cursor, Codex or Gemini and your assistant can drive it directly — one message instead of a panel full of clicks. You review before anything is published.

Video Speed Changer questions
0.1× to 4×, in 0.1 steps — genuine slow motion at the bottom and a real timelapse at the top, rather than a fixed set of presets.
Yes. Speed is applied to the project, so subtitles, zooms and effects re-time with the footage.
Yes. The single-file speed tool takes a speed factor and writes a new video, driven over MCP by the AI assistant you've connected to Shorz.
Slowing playback stretches the existing frames, so very low speeds on low-frame-rate source footage will look choppier. Shooting at a higher frame rate gives you more room to slow down cleanly.
