Face tracking that crops to verticalwithout decapitations

A centre crop puts your speaker's forehead at the edge of the frame. Shorz follows the face instead — through the whole clip, through every zoom — so landscape footage becomes a clean vertical short.

How to use the face tracking in three steps

Every long video you've already published is sitting at 16:9, and every vertical platform wants 9:16. The naive fix — crop the middle — works until the speaker leans, stands, or gestures. Face tracking makes the crop follow the person, which is the entire reason repurposed clips look native instead of accidental.

Importing a wide 16:9 recording into Shorz
1

Import the landscape footage

A recording from your PC, or a video pulled straight in from a YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram link. Shorz reads the frame and finds the speaker.

2

Switch the project to vertical

Pick 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 1:1 for square feeds, or stay at 16:9. Face tracking recalculates the crop for the new shape.

Let it follow — or take over

The crop tracks the face for the whole clip, including through auto-zoom punch-ins. If a shot needs a specific framing, override it manually in seconds.

Why Face Tracking in Shorz

Face detection frame locked on a subject while they speak

Built for repurposing, not just recording

Face tracking is what makes Clipping work: a two-hour podcast becomes vertical shorts where the speaker is centred in every one. Combine it with auto captions and you have a native-looking short from footage that was never shot for it.

Powers clipping

A zoom punch-in staying centred on a moving speaker

Zooms that don't break the framing

Auto Zoom punches in; face tracking decides where. The two run together, so an aggressive zoom on a moving speaker still lands on their face instead of their shoulder.

Shorz speaks MCP

Shorz isn't a locked web app. Connect it to Claude, Cursor, Codex or Gemini and your assistant can drive it directly — one message instead of a panel full of clicks. You review before anything is published.
